The Mountains Rockies
To the north lies the mountains, a place few in the pack dare head. The slopes are cold and jagged, spelling a perilous trek for any who decide to travel them.
___

Prey: Scarce, consisting mostly of small mammals.
Predators: Cougars call the slopes home, and will prey on a lone wolf if hungry enough.

Hazzaro
"Ugh! Stupid bloody thorn.." Haz grumbled, adding as many colorful curses as he could to express his distaste. Whether his frustration was with the thorn lodged in his paw or his whole predicament in general, he was unsure. The lines for many things started to get fuzzy weeks ago, when the lone male was still skirting along the rather unwelcoming landscape of the mountain side. All the small prey, the temporary resting places, the internal monologues... it was one scrambled mess in his head by now. Something needed to change, and fast, before he lost all his sanity.

Haz huffed as he flopped down rather ungracefully and started gnawing on the intruding thorn, but it seemed as if it had taken permanent residence in between his toes. Giving up for now, Haz looked upwards at the early sky and just breathed. Sometimes when he did this, he liked to think he was collecting himself - calming his temper or soothing his nerves - but then he remembered that he really had no idea if he even had a temper or was the nervous type. Haz knew very little about himself besides the manners he possessed that were engraved into his mind from puphood, so he did what he knew best.

With a smooth, practiced grin on his face, Haz turned his nearly bulging eyes down from the sky and toward his hurt paw. "Hello, Mr. Thorn," he gritted between clenched teeth, coming to the conclusion that perhaps his loneliness was a blessing because at least no one else had to witness this. "I see you've taken a liking to my paw. Well, you little shi- I mean, sir, I'm going to have to ask you to kindly exit. Please and.." a harsh yank at the thorn, "thank you."

Spitting out the now dislodged thorn, Haz sighed in relief, burying his face in the grass beneath him. He really didn't want any more surprises today. And so he just layed, choosing to ignore the nagging feeling in his spine that there was something familiar just around the corner...

Notes: I hope it's okay I posted here first! Haz has been wandering so someone will have to bring him to the others.

Chronos
Failure Isn't an Option

Trotting for hours upon hours is really tiring... his paws feeling so sore, heated and achy. Chronos' tongue was hanging from the side of his muzzle, but not a single drop of saliva rolling down his tongue. Dry, so damn dry. He rotates his head taking a look around, searching for water. His head almost falling to one side making his lose his balance and stumble around until he regained it. Quickly, he looked around to see if anyone was around. Yeah he was thirsty, damn he was almost dying, but his stupid pride still mattered. After a stupid trail of irrelevant thoughts he decided it was a good idea to just rest. "Where the hell am I? And how the hell did I get here?" His confused expression remained on his face for a good 5 minutes as he looked at the tall mountains.

Suddenly, a faint sound came from the mountains. Chron cocked his head towards the sound as his ears flicked, sounded like a... a roar. "Oh greaaattt, that's exactly what I needed. Mountain lions. Welp, better than dying of thirst. Who am I kidding, I ain't fighting no lion today." He sighed as he got up. It had been almost two days that he'd gone without water and a week without food. pack life was sooo much better. Free food, no worries... company. All I got is some... mountain lions that are tryna eat me. As Chronos dragged his extremely tired legs across the terain, a certain aroma clouded the atmosphere.

The brute looked ahead as he noticed another male canid fighting- ... thorns? This gotta be good. Feeling a sudden curiosity or some sort of determination, Chron began padding towards the fellow canid. His tail flicking around, but he wasn't being very cautious. The wolf didn't seem to scare him, but kind of weirded him out. So many questions kept popping up. Why is he fighting a thorn? "Hey, uh you alright there?"

Notes: I thought it'd be cool for them to meet this way, seemed pretty funny haha.

The Mountains Empty Re: The Mountains

Post by Nehemia Thu Jun 23, 2016 1:29 am

Nehemia trotted through the narrow mountain passage with a spring in her step. She'd been on her feet for hours now, but the female was in too good of a mood to be tired. It was a new day, the sun was shining, and she'd finally gotten out of the damned mountain range that she'd been trapped in for the past fortnight. Yeah, there was no better reason to be in high spirits.
The young she-wolf paused for a moment and tipped her head back, inhaling deeply. The fresh scents of clear mountain air and water and grass flooded her senses, as refreshing as cool water washing over her pelt. After two weeks of smelling nothing but snow, snow, snow and being surrounded by even more, solid grass beneath her feet was paradise. Nehemia flexed her paws against the peaty ground and inhaled deeply again, her eyes closing in ecstasy. This, time, however, she picked up something else and her eyes snapped open immediately.
There was the faint scent of mountain lion, stale and old, but stronger than that was the smell of wolves. Multiple, as far as she could tell. Nehemia felt a spark of excitement flare deep inside her chest. A tiny part of her warned her to stay back, to analyze the situation further before getting involved but a bigger part threw caution to the wind. It had been months since she'd seen another wolf. Nehemia enjoyed her travels but she also craved social interaction. If there were others nearby, she couldn't pass up the opportunity to at least scope them out. Springing to her haunches, Nehemia bounded forward and followed the scent trail, an eagerness blossoming in her chest that she couldn't control.
After awhile, Nehemia came upon the source of the scent - two wolves around her age, both males and both very...ragged. One was sprawled upon the grass, pulling a thorn from his paw - the other was nearby, staring at the wolf on the ground. Nehemia had no idea what was going on between them, but more overpowering than her curiosity was her delight at stumbling upon two potential companions. "Hello, boys." She chirped, sidling towards them.

Hazzaro

There it was. The nagging feeling had footsteps, and a heart beat, and was approaching him. For all Haz knew it could have been some ravenous predator coming to tear him limb from limb, but with the mixture of embarrassment of being caught talking to himself/a thorn and the painful hunger lodged in his stomach, he decided maybe a swift death wouldn't be so bad. But it never came, and instead the foreign sound of a voice drifted to his ears.

"Hey, uh you alright there?" the stranger questioned. Haz kept his face buried in the ground for a heartbeat before slowly lifting his cranium like it weighed a thousand pounds, an easy smile painted onto his face. With dull, careful eyes he took in the appearance of his company. A dark and broad figure stood before him, and although the male looked like he could probably put up an excellent fight against Haz's smaller and food-deprived self, he didn't give off any particularly aggressive vibes. A noticeable scar had carved the stranger's eye, but for some odd reason it almost relaxed Hazzaro. Like he knew this was a real, living being in front of him and not some weird hallucination he was having thanks to lack of nutrition. A few moments too late Haz realized he had been eyeing the stranger too long, and quickly straightened his long legs, letting out a small polite chuckle, as if this whole predicament didn't have him burning with embarrassment.

"Yes, I am fine. Thorns and I are natural enemies..." he attempted at polite humor, shaking out his wiry fur only to make it look more messy and frazzled. "I'm Hazzaro, but you can call me Haz. My apologies if I am trespassing on territory of yours, but those mountains back there have me in quite a state. I knew I smelled canine's around the area but I wasn't thinking properly... Mercy for the weak?" He grinned, an easy, crooked smile gracing his face while his internal monologue was already planning his eulogy. He could feel the approaching presence of another canine and silently scolded himself for not paying attention. His luck, these two were packmates and came to make a meal of him, although nothing about this seemed very pack-like... if anything the approaching female and the male he just talked the ears off looked almost as rough as he did.

"Hello, boys," the new stranger spoke, and with a fluid turn of his head, Haz quickly took in her smaller, sunny-hued appearance. Haz gave a simple nod of his head before addressing her next with a smooth, "Hiya, ma'am," leaving it at that and trying to ignore his blood pressure rising by the second. He was a trained fighter, but something about the muscles laying underneath the skin of these two strangers told him he wasn't the only one...

Chronos
Failure Isn't an Option

Chron continued to stare down at the stranger that had his head in the ground. With confusion he was about to take a step forward until the male arose his head letting out a polite chuckle. But there was this burning feeling inside that made Chronos feel like they were being watched... by something else. He furrowed his eyebrows at the thought, flicking the tip of his tail displaying slight annoyance. Then he returned his attention back on the male. "Yes, I am fine. Thorns and I are natural enemies...I'm Hazzaro, but you can call me Haz. My apologies if I am trespassing on territory of yours, but those mountains back there have me in quite a state. I knew I smelled canine's around the area but I wasn't thinking properly... Mercy for the weak?" Chronos felt Hazzaro's almost uneasiness thinking that the brute was part of some pack. But he returned a smile shaking his head slightly.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance. You can call me Chronos or Chron. And don't even apologize, I'm just a wanderer like yourself." Talking to Hazzaro made the brute feel calmer and more relaxed, like all that stuff that happened before didn't really matter because now he had met a potential friend. He took this time to examine the wolf without making it too obvious, or at least trying not to. His dark pelt was almost similar to Chron's but with hues of brown, although his pelt appeared a little rough and all over the place but it wasn't a bad look for him. Chronos arose an eyebrow as he examined all the scars scattered across Haz's lean figure. Must be a fighter like himself, or a trouble maker... again like himself. He should have known before from the obvious lean and dense muscle underneath his muddy pelt. He didn't think of the male as a challenger since he portrayed a very polite behaviour.

Suddenly his auds flicked as he turned his head to a soft yet bubbly greeting. "Hello boys." But his response was a little delayed as he noticed the very uneasy Hazzaro that looked almost like he was cornered or trapped. Transitioning his attention back on the much smaller redish brown female, but her height didn't make her look weak at all. Visiable lean muscles were hiding under her distracting pelt of various colours. Finally responding with a slight nod of respect he greeted the female back, "Greetings, ma'am." Keeping his tall an broad figure he looked back and forth from the two canids. Where are they all coming from...?

The Mountains Empty Re: The Mountains

Post by Nehemia Thu Jun 23, 2016 1:41 pm

Nehemia could almost feel the tension crackling between the two wolves; it pressed down on her like a thundercloud, dark and heavy. She furrowed her brow as she stared down at the first wolf - Haz, she'd heard him introducing himself. Though his words were lighthearted and there was a grin plastered across his face, he looked like a deer in headlights. The tenseness of his muscles, the guarded way he looked at both her and Chronos; it was as if he expected them to spring at any moment. Chronos seemed to be in a similar mindset; while he didn't exude the same aura of panic as Haz, Chronos was very clearly keeping a weary eye on the both of them. Nehemia supposed that was the smart thing to do, especially considering both of the wolves before her looked just as muscular and capable as she was, but she couldn't be bothered. She was still drowning in delight at stumbling upon the two of them.

"Well," She offered cheerily. "If it isn't either of your territories, there have to be more wolves nearby." The scent of other unfamiliar wolves still flooded her senses, cloying and heavy. It made Nehemia practically wriggle with excitement. She cast a sweeping glance over the territory surrounding her, wondering where the others could be, before she remembered the two wolves still before her and forced herself to snap her attention back to them. First things first, Nehemia.

"I'm Nehemia, by the way." She added as an afterthought. "If you're going to get off the ground any time soon, we could all go exploring." She cast a pointed look at Haz at that last comment. Jeez, why couldn't these guys be excited?

Haz kept quiet as Chronos and Nehemia both introduced themselves in turn, and visibly relaxed upon learning that they were in similar situations to himself. When Nehemia scolded Haz for his lack of energy, he simply smiled, amused by the firecracker excitement he could sense radiating off of her. He glanced quickly at Chronos to share his amusement before deciding that exploring didn't sound like a bad idea at all.

"Sorry, Nehemia, I've been feeling a touch lazy. Near starvation does that to a guy," he joked, easy expression still on his face, though the sentiment was true. Hazzaro could feel exhaustion settling in his bones like an old friend, but he kept that to himself. Whining about it wouldn't put his best self forward, and when he had two potential allies before him all that was on his mind was making good impressions. A simple glance at the group showed that between the three of them, there was a lot of muscle.

"I am all for a little adventuring. If that's true and there is a pack of sorts nearby, then there is probably food too. And I don't know about you two, but I could use a bite," he confided, stretching out his legs and walking in a small circle to get his body working once again, a small habit he picked up after leaving his previous pack. "I'm with Miss Nehemia," he prompted, looking at Chronos almost expectantly. Though Haz did quite like his alone time, he couldn't deny the familiar comfort of company, and as long as these two new faces seemed friendly enough, Haz had all intentions of sticking around with them. The more the merrier.

Chronos
Failure Isn't an Option

It had been a while since the lad has had some company, aside from the usual mountain lions trying to kill him and stupid rabbits that quickly ran into their stupid burrows and they even wouldn’t let him get a single bi- anywayyss, in conclusion, it’s been a long time. As Nehemia introduced herself, scolded the two wolves for their lack of energy, and Haz agreed to go explore, Chronos nodded in agreement.
Although, his posture wasn't relaxed, he still seemed a little tense. Chron isn't really used to that much energy coming from one canid, or two now. But a crooked smile crept amongst his visage as he amusingly looked at the two. Quickly noticing his amusement, his smile disappeared almost instantly and he cleared his throat.
“Excuse me for jumping around with happiness I can’t really feel my legs… or my tongue for that matter.” Chron shook his pelt as his tongue hung from one side of his muzzle. All dry and senseless. “But yeah I think I could use a bite too, and some water.” The thought of all three of them exploring together made him chuckle a little, three broad and lean wolves.
He didn’t know if a pack of wolves would even wanna go to head to head with these three. But that’s what made it good. He enjoyed their company, they seemed pretty outgoing and charasmatic. He pawed his face to fix his appearance a bit, he looked a little dead. Chron looked over at Haz and Nehemia signalling that he was ready to go wherever there was food and water. But at the same time, their company was a little strange. Nothing that he was really used to, since he lived more than half of his life in exile from his pack. He stretched his legs and back letting out a slight growl from the pleasure of his back cracking. This should be different...

Notes: It's liiittt. But Chron seems like a party pooper here, he's a lil too serious for this lmaoo

~Willow~

Willow watched curiously and a little apprehensively from the tree line at the three, much bigger, much more muscled wolves. Even in their scrawny, bedraggled state she wouldn't stand a chance if she chose to get hostile with them.

Just moments before she heard the foreign voices and decided to check them out, she was patrolling the borders in hopes to please Kaito. Ever since she was a pup she wanted to become a Guard and had taken it upon herself to try her very best to make her dreams come true, even if her small stature and slightly goofy appearance seemed to hold her back. But, sometimes she could get into trouble with her determination, this was one of those times.

Willow continued to watch while the loners conversed, ears quivering and tail swishing as she tried to make a decision. She could either stay here until the wind changed and they detected her scent, she could silently trot back to Kaito and inform him of the intruders, or she could confront them and take them back as her prisoners, if she managed to do that, then, well, Kaito would have to make her a guard right away!

Quivering slightly with nerves and excitement, she emerge from the trees , fur fluffed, tail high and ears pricked, she tried to make herself as big as possible. Still, she looked tiny compared to the loner. Mustering all her confidence she spoke in a clear, demanding voice "What are you doing in my territory!?"

Near starvation does that to a guy. Nehemia snorted, relieved to see that the two males weren't as doom and gloom as she'd first thought. She even caught the slightest of smiles upon Chronos's muzzle before it quickly dissipated again. The tension in the air lifted slightly and Nehemia wriggled her tail with excitement. What a coincidence, that the three of them would wind up in this strange territory at the exact same time. She couldn't be more pleased.

Swinging her head around, Nemehia scanned the treeline as she tried to pinpoint where exactly they should go first. She thought she caught the slightest flicker of movement out of the corner of her eye, but brushed it off as a bird or some other woodland creature. Her nose quivered as she once again picked up the scent of wolves - based on where it was coming from, she thought they should head south. She was just turning to share her thoughts with the two males when a demanding voice burst from the treeline. "What are you doing in my territory?"

Nehemia instantly tensed, crouching low to the ground in preperation to spring as she faced the offending wolf. From the loud, demanding confidence in the tone of its voice, she was expecting a large wolf and a formidable opponent - but when her eyes landed on the small she-wolf, she almost burst into laughter. The female was half Nemehias size and even smaller compared to Haz or Chronos. Though she held herself in a fierce manner, fur fluffed and tail held high, Nehemia could tell that underneath all the bravado, there was nervousness. The kid couldn't have been more than a year old.

Snorting, Nehemia cast a glance over at Haz and Chronos before she took a step towards the youth. "Kid, if you're the only one who lives here, we might as well just take it over for ourselves." She was jesting - for the most part. Nehemia would never hurt a child, but was this tiny youth really the only wolf around?

Haz was doing a bit of sitting back now, watching as Nehemia, the considerably more cheery of the tree glanced into the treeline, where Haz himself could also sense the slightest of movement. He felt slightly reassured that he wasn't the only one keeping an eye on their surroundings, like maybe this rag-tag group stood a chance. He didn't want to feel for these two so early on, but when you've been wandering for years after leaving a pack that has a strict no-acceptance-of-any-kind rule, and then stumble into two seemingly kind enough wolves who aren't set on tearing out your throat, well... let's just say the loneliness was getting to him.

And his attachment to them is probably why, when Nehemia flinched into a sort of defensive crouch, Haz mirrored the action, sort of flinching forward so he was flanking his smaller companion and scolding himself for not paying attention once again. The tension in body easily dissolved, however, when he saw a very young lass in front of the group, claiming the territory for her own. He listened as Nehemia joked with the child, but he could feel his blood pressure shoot up as soon as she said the words. He knew what she meant, but the piece of him that was all for manners and politeness wanted nothing but to give her a good whump to the head. instead Haz stepped forward so he was shoulder-to-shoulder with her and subtly bumped his side into hers, trying to steer her in, what he assumed was, a more appropriate direction for their circumstances.

"What my friend means is, um, certainly a young lass as skilled in protecting her territory as yourself has a group worth guarding with all your efforts, yes?" He glanced sideways at the other two wolves, hoping they would follow along with his next bit. "Well, guys, it seems as if we have been caught. I would try to run away but I have a feeling we wouldn't make it out alive," and then, with a slightly forlorn look he turned back to the young she-wolf, "It would only be fair for us to surrender."

Haz hoped that the young wolf would take the bait, leading them to any nearby adults and in turn, nearby food.

~Willow~

Willow quailed slightly as two of the three wolves sprung up into a defensive crouch, her ears swiveled back in distress and feelings of uncertainty pulsed through her. If these strangers chose to fight her only option was to flee for her life, how would she stand the embarrassment? Kaito would be so disappointed in her and, horribly, she would never become a Guard. In her tiny, stubborn mind Willow decided that she would rather exile herself then have to live with the shame.

Wrapped up in her own thoughts, the apprentice didn't even notice how the wolves had relaxed until the she-wolf spoke up. Her fur flared up in anger, how insulting! Kaito would tear them up like an angry bear if they tried to take the territory, and she was just about to let the brown female know how her life would come to an end when the starved looking male next to her decided to speak too.

As she listened pride swelled in Willows chest while her anger ebbed considerably, she had taken an instant liking to the black wolf, and then the impact of what he was saying hit her, they had surrendered! She wouldn't have to exile herself afterall! She took back her confident stance and sniffed the air to get their strange scent. "Come prisoners," she started proudly, snout in the air, "I shall take you to the strongest Alpha in all the land and he can decide what to do with you."

The small she-wolf spun around and started to march back into the forest, her little body trembling with excitement, Kaito was going to be so proud!

Chronos
Failure Isn't an Option

A sudden threat from what sounded like another wolf silenced the atmosphere. Chronos’ ears shot up as he cocked his body towards the sound every muscle in his body now tense and obvious through his dark pelt. He watched as the two wolves plumbed down into a defensive stance. But he didn’t do as they did, he didn’t know if it was stupid that he didn’t or not but his pride didn’t allow him to act such way. Instead he stood completely still with a blood curdling snarl that arose through his muzzle. Until a smaller figure became present, she was barely a year old. He rose an eyebrow and looked at her, not saying a word until he heard Nehemia laugh mockingly at the smaller she-wolf. His eyebrows quickly furrowed as she began to joke about the wolf’s size.
But Haz quickly stepped in the way giving Nehemia an unapproving look. Seemed like they were thinking the same thing, of course this she-wolf wouldn’t have all this land to herself, a youngin almost assures that there is a pack around here somewhere. Chron played along as he slowly padded up to the smaller she-wolf with his tail in between his legs. “You’re right Haz, we have no chance against her…” With his ears flattened he tried not to smile as the little she-wolf regained her pride and confidence and began to take us away as her prisoners.
Chron glanced at Haz giving him a crooked smile. “Yes ma’am." as he began behind the she-wolf. It seemed almost pathetic that these three lean built wolves would surrender to a little she-wolf like her. But he would never even think of insulting her like that and he admired her courage and confidence to put herself out there like that. Part of why he was doing it was respect to the she-wolves actions. Playing along would lead them to a pack, and that’s exactly what they needed.

Nehemia cast Haz a pointed look as he bumped lightly against her, but she managed to hold her tongue. Her brow furrowed as she watched him, twice the size of the young she-wolf and insurmountably more capable, bow in utter submission. She was about to ask him what exactly he was doing when the words came out of his mouth. "It would only be fair for us to surrender." Oh. Nehemia didn't know whether to snort in laughter or derision. Well, she supposed her companions were cleverer than she would have expected, especially for a pair so half-starved.

Nehemia relaxed her still-tensed muscles and watched as Chronos followed Haz's lead. To her amusement, the youth positively puffed up with satisfaction as the wolves before her surrendered. Nehemia had to give it to her; the kid had nerve. "Right, then." She said brightly. "Let's go meet our fearsome captor."

As she swirled on her heel and began to march into the territory, Nehemia felt her excitement mounting once more. The young she-wolf had mentioned an alpha, so they'd definitely stumbled upon the lands of a pack. There was no telling how many wolves would be skulking around further in, and it made Nehemia practically bursting to the seams with delight.

Flouncing after the young she-wolf, Nehemia tossed her tail into the sky and tried to control her own excitement.

Haz returned Chron's grin and shot Nehemia a similar look of satisfaction when the young pup began leading her helpless captives towards her pack. He wanted to cry with relief, kiss the paws of this young lass who was probably saving their lives, but instead he simply straightened up and followed closely behind Nehemia and Chronos, in the direction that apparently would lead them to the youngin's pack.

Watching Nehemia amused him, and he was quickly catching on to her near contagious amounts of energy. She was probably one of the most upbeat 'prisoners' he had ever seen, but Haz hadn't the heart to scold her anymore. Internally he felt much the same way, and it was refreshing to see someone just so utterly pleased with life. Smiling lightly to himself, Haz trotted so he was next to Chronos, sighing a little and hoping Chron would understand the gratitude that he would never be able to put into words. He would sigh at Nehemia too, if she hadn't been practically vibrating with energy and several paces ahead of him. Emotions were gross and weird, but Haz promised himself he would try them out and a sigh was just baby steps.

As their path led them further inwards towards the territory, Haz started thinking about their captor, a new thoughtful expression crossing his face. She was certainly braver than most her age, and had a blooming passion for being a protector of those she care's about. Perhaps, if the pack let him stick around, he could give her a lesson or two on how to spar. He was trained how to fight from a young age, and between Nehemia's energy, Chronos' steadfastness, and the young pup's gusto, Haz was feeling like maybe this whole adventure may lead them to a better place after all.

~Willow~

The young she-wolf marched confidently over the leaf litter of the forest, her dainty paws only making a slight crunch noise with every step. Though her attention was mostly focused on her captives following behind her, her mind was racing.

Her main thought was of how proud Kaito would be with her, but dashing around in her domed head we're thoughts of what was going to happen to her captives. She might be in the prospect of having new pack mates! And judging by the taught muscles that rippled under their fur, they we're all seasoned fighters. Possibilities flooded her, and, getting ahead of herself, she picked over who she would like to be her mentor. All of them we're capable, that was for sure, the small, brownish she-wolf seemed to have an energy that matched Willows, but would that make her more of a teacher or a friend? The larger black male that had surrendered first seemed like he would be fierce if he wasn't starved, and he had complimented her, which made her glow with pride. She decided she liked him the most. Then she considered the other male, he had treated her with respect, and faced with a threat he had let out a bone-chilling growl. They we're all so difficult to choose between! Her snout twitched with frustration before she left a small grin reveal small, needle sharp teeth, she would be happy with any of them.
